From the Editor's Desk:
Good morning! It's a lovely morning here right now. Sarah and I walked a mile before 7, and then I walked another mile and a half with Angela before 9. The air is fresh and clean because of the rain we had last evening. But the sun is shining and I imagine we'll have to turn the AC on later since it's supposed to reach 90ΒΊ today. It's going to get humid!
Weather Report:
Some days are hot and humid, other days are just humid, and other days are so nice that we keep the windows open all day. Most nights we've opened the house up and enjoyed the fresh air. Everything is green here. I've been trying to keep up with the weeding and working on trimming our lilac bush.
"Genius Burns":
Well, that story that I was working on took a break. Or maybe it was pushed out of the way by "Monday's Mystery." I've been writing that story for a bit now and it's still going. I'd like to start working on "Katie Wood" but that hasn't happened. And I have another short story that I want to write for a collection.
Project Prognosis:
Let's check in on my projects, shall we?
- Work on Blog Posts for 2023 β June's posts are finished. July's are started, but I don't have any finished completely yet. I'm starting to slowly plan for August. I'd really like to get posts for the rest of the year planned and drafted. But we'll see.
- Update Website β I'll have to update it soon (more about that in Read Another Page.)
- Prepare for KDWC β I think I have everything done. My devotionals are written and scheduled, my tent is ready, all the behind the scenes things are done.
Visitors:
No visitors this week or last. Next week Aunt Marty and Grandpa are hoping to come down on Friday for the day.
Whispering Winds:
Krista and James are off at Whispering Winds Bible Camp. This week has been training week. Then they'll work on staff except for the week they'll attend camp. Next week Lucas will be attending. Joel will join Krista and James when they attend, and then later Drew is going to be doing the Wilderness camp. Krista and James will be gone all month!
Babysitting:
The six younger kids were over all day Wednesday. They ate breakfast here. (They also brought two dozen eggs for us since their chickens are giving them a lot of eggs.) We spent most of the day building lego. I did take them all on a walk in the morning after it stopped raining. And in the late afternoon Joel and Drew helped me mow and weed-eat most of the yard. That was nice. The youngest three helped me pick up sticks.
Wedding:
Sarah and I helped with the reception for a wedding at church last Saturday. A friend from church was getting married. We also got the lunch ready for the wedding party. We had lots of great help at the reception and everything went well.
The Music Stand:
We had our first ensemble practice for July 2nd. Our next practice is tomorrow. It's going to be fun playing all these patriotic songs for church! I'm enjoying practicing them.
KDWC:
Registration for writing camp opens on Monday! All of us "aunties" are eager for registration because we are doing something new this time and are not letting campers pick their tent, so we all want to see who is going to end up in our tents. But, while we're eager for registration, none of us are quite ready for camp to start! We do have a little over a week before we open the gates.
Sewing Room:
The sewing room is staying busy. Sarah is always sewing something and mailing things out. Skirts and dresses, and more. When the kids were over, she was helping Kailyn make a skirt for herself. Well, Kinsley wanted one too, so Sarah is making a pink skirt for her.
Read Another Page:
Summer Light audio is finished! Well, the recording is done. Now I just have to wait for ACX (Audible) to run their check and make sure it meets the standards or qualifications, or whatever it is they check. And By Paths Unknown is started for audio. I've gotten to listen to the first chapter.
Teacher's Lounge:
Closed for now.
Book Nook:
I've been doing a lot of reading lately. I don't know if I'm just trying to fill up my word tank before camp starts and I need to write a lot, or if I'm just still trying to catch up after the last camp. Or maybe it's just because I love to read. :) Anyway, here's my list of books. Kate's Hope (much better than the last book in the series), A Christian Endeavor Picnic (short but good), Baggage Claim (wild, rather absurd, don't plan to read more), Bernie's White Chicken (love it), A Dozen of Them (so good), A Brother Beloved (a favorite reread), Miracle on Ford Avenue (okay), The Light in My Window (another favorite reread), Troubled Tidings (An okay Christmas thriller), Frank Hudson's Hedge Fence (very good). And that's it for now.
Farewell:
I should get this sent off and get to work on other things. I have a violin to practice, and other things to do. And maybe I can write this morning. Wouldn't that be fun. Anyway, I hope you have a lovely weekend. Not sure if I'll write next weekend or not.
