White Fragility in Restorative Justice Spaces

Restorative Justice is NOT colorblind or race neutral.

Hi

I shared on Instagram last week, but wanted to restate here, RJ is NOT Color Blind or Race Neutral.

RJ is a powerful framework that aims to repair harm, build/strengthen relationships, and create a sense of belonging within communities. However, it is essential to acknowledge and navigate the challenges that arise when addressing issues of race and privilege within these spaces.

Gilbert Salazar, one of the contributors to "Colorizing Restorative Justice", wrote a short film exploring these ideas and I'm excited to announce we're hosting a screening of the film along with an accompanying workshop on Addressing White Fragility in Restorative Justice Spaces.

Our workshop will provide a safe and supportive environment (in racial affinity space) to explore the concept of white fragility and its impact on the effectiveness of restorative justice practices.

Whether you are an experienced practitioner, a community member interested in restorative justice, or someone passionate about fostering inclusive spaces, this workshop is designed to benefit all individuals committed to dismantling systemic biases and working towards a more just society.

Join us THIS Saturday, June 3.

9:00-10:15am PST for White-bodied community

10:30am-12:00pm PST for BIPOC community

Sliding scale $33-$97

Please share with others who might be interested in attending. We believe that collective learning and action are essential in creating lasting change within our communities.

Let us know if you have any questions or require further information.

Love, Peace, & Solidarity,

David
