Old Stories Still Speak

Feb 22, 2026 11:31 am

Hi

The winters been long here in the North of Scotland. Snow still caps the mountains, yet the faintest lilt of spring can be heard in the birdsong.

Before Spring has fully sprung, and the pull outdoors gets stronger, I'm excited to share a free online myth series which I'll be a part of.

Beginning this Monday (February 23), I’ll be joining Chris Gilmour and a small circle of storytellers for a free four session online series called: Old Stories Still Speak

We will gather online from many places, with roots that reach across the sea.

Some of us are joining from Scotland, with its rich tradition of oral tale telling. Others are rooted here on Turtle Island, exploring what it means to live in right relationship to land and ancestry.

Myth carries images and characters that hold something steady when life feels uncertain β€” tricksters and guardians, exile and return, loss and belonging, death and renewal.

You are warmly invited to join us.

The series is free and open to everyone.

No prior knowledge of myth is required. Just curiosity and a willingness to listen.

Word of mouth helps these kinds of offerings travel farther than any algorithm.

If these themes of ancestry, land, and living story speak to you, I would love to have you there.

Many thanks

Dougie
