Get Inspired by What You Already Have!

Oh hey there!

Have you heard the refrain "reduce, reuse, recycle"? Did you know there are two MORE sustainability R's?? They are Refuse and Repurpose. And those are the two R's that I'll be focusing on in today's email.

So often when the little love's get all excited and request a "Moonbeam Unicorn Dragon" party or a "Pokemon Stadium" party or a "Rainbow Fairy" party, you feel that chill of dread - how the heck am I going to afford this and where am I going to find a bloody moonbeam unicorn dragon?!?!

Wouldn't it be amazing if instead, the first thing that popped to mind was "what have I got at home that I can use for this?"

So, first things first, wherever possible, refusing to buy is the BEST way to reduce over consumption and its associated yucky waste and pollution issues. Obviously there are things you simply cannot refuse to buy, but party decor ain't one of them! Next, consider what is already in your house and how it might be repurposed for the party decor.

For example, could you save a few cardboard delivery boxes and DIY some big cardboard cut outs in theme? What do your kids have stashed away in the toy box or dress up box that would fit the theme? Can you mainly decorate with neutral items (like brightly coloured bunting and paper honeycomb balls) and then hire or borrow the rest? Does your little love have a quilt cover in theme that could be hung as a backdrop for the party?

I hope this email gets your creativity flowing!

Cheers,

Michelle
