Hellooooo!
I hope this email finds you well. Can you believe its only a couple of months to Christmas?!? Yep, I did just say that. Eeeek! This makes me feel old, but I'm gonna say it anyway - hasn't the year just flown by?!?
The closer we get to Christmas, the more party season really revs up and your calendar gets booked out. All these parties can lead to loads of overflowing bins, unless we do a little forward planning. Read on for 10 Easy Ways to Eco-fy Any Party Theme.
10: Ditch disposables! Before you run out to the nearest shop to stock up on disposable plates, cups and cutlery, do a little stock take of what you have at home. Using what you already have is so much better for the environment!
9: Stay away from mega sites like Temu, Amazon and Shein. Seriously, those marketplaces are cheap for a reason... Instead, find your local party hire provider and hire any decorations you need to jazz up your party space.
8: Keep your guest list manageable. You don't have to invite that person you spoke to in the lift once at work, or your little love's entire class group or every single person involved at the local tennis club. Invite the people that you have a meaningful connection with. Less guests automatically equals less waste!
7: And on the subject of guest lists, be sure to have a firm RSVP on your invitation. Knowing how many people to cater for will help you reduce food wastage.
6: Save paper with a digital invitation. Evites (paperless, digital invites) are widely available in ALL the themes and colour schemes you can think of. You can find the Print Quirks selection here.
5: Consider using natural, compostable items to decorate your party space such as flowers, foliage and small branches. Arranged artistically, these can be a super effective backdrop for your party.
4: Hire a Party Kit!! If you don't have enough cutlery and tableware to cover all of your guests, find your nearest Party Kit provider and hire the shortfall.
3: Set up a clearly labelled and easily accessible waste station at your party. Have a tub for any recyclable items, one for compostable matter and one for any actual rubbish.
2: Take the weather into consideration when setting up your party food space. You don't want sushi sitting outside in the glaring sunshine for example. If you are having a summer party, consider bringing easily spoilable food around on platters and returning it to the fridge rather than leaving it out for the whole party time.
1: BORROW ALL THE THINGS! Join your local Buy Nothing Group and also hit up friends and family to borrow any party items you don't have at home. Using items already in circulation is so much more sustainable than every party host purchasing all the things they need...
I hope this sets you up for a lower waste party next time. Hit reply and let me know which of these tips would be easiest for you to put into practice, I'd love to know!
Catch you next time,
Michelle
