Coach ,
Today I’d like to share a course courtesy of the Texas HS Coaches Association with you to add to your library. Remember with CoachTube courses, once you book it, you own it forever, and this is a resource you will want to refer back to often.
Maybe you don’t view this right now during the season, but I promise it is packed with the insight you need to run an elite football program.
It is over 2 ½ hours of video from six coaches who have put together very successful careers.
#1) Randy Allen, Highland Park High School - "The Art of Coaching Character"
Coach Allen is the head coach at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas. With a total record of 401-88-6 Allen is the 2nd winningest active high school football coach in Texas. He’s led Highland Park to six state championships.
Coaches have more impact in one day than some people have in a lifetime. It's imperative in today's society that coaches remember to use their power of influence to positively impact our student-athletes.
The most important legacy we can leave to this generation is to provide the best example of good character for the young athletes so that they become men and women of character.

#2) Syl Perez, Retired Superintendent - "Bringing your ‘A’ Game”
If you plan on being in the job market, the information presented here is invaluable.
Syl presents tips on interviewing for a Head Coaching job. Today's educational climate continues to change and evolve and these tips will help you win the job.
The responsibilities of the position encompass more than ever before and assistant coaches who aspire to be promoted to Head Coach need to prepare themselves daily for the chance to fulfill their dream.
#3) Joey McGuire, Associate Head Coach, Baylor - "A Structure for Success: Designing your Program"
Joey McGuire was the head coach at Cedar Hill High School when this was recorded. He took Cedar Hill, a program that hadn’t won a playoff game before his tenure, to 12 straight playoff appearances. McGuire’s teams amassed a 141-42 record, won 3 state titles, nine bi-district championships, and seven district championships.
He is now the associate head coach and outside linebackers coach for Baylor. What do you hang your hat on as a program? In any great program, there has to be a solid foundation upon which everything is built. Coach McGuire lays out a detailed plan on how they designed the program from the ground up!
#4) John King, Longview High School - "The Well-Rounded Athlete"
Coach King has an impressive 193-41 record as the head coach of Longview and has won 14 district championships as well as the 2018 6A Division II state championship.
Coach King addresses the importance of a student-athlete's participation in multiple sports and extra-curricular activities.
An athlete's presence on campus should radiate through community involvement and peer leadership as well as physical training. A true competitor will cultivate his talents in as many areas as possible!
#5) Larry Hill, Smithson Valley High School
Coach Hill has been inducted into the Texas HS Coaches Hall of Honor. He’s taken his team to nine State Quarterfinals, six State Semifinals, and three State Championship games. Hill has a career record of 239-75.
Every program must have a plan, a process, a philosophy of what it wants to be. X's and O's are an important piece of all winning teams, but the bedrock of any successful organization is the day-to-day operations and how they are carried out.
The head coach is the one most responsible for setting the tone. How he performs in this area may be the single most important factor for affecting the result!
#6) Andy Evans, Tatum High School - “1 in 100”
Coach Evans lead the Tatum Eagles to back-to-back state championships in 2005 and 2006. He stepped away from the Eagles in 2015. He finished his career 185-70.
Inspired by his experiences at the THSCEF Texas Coaches Leadership Summit, Coach Evans chose to make a difference in his community and the culture of his athletes.
By initiating the "1 in 100" program, the student-athletes of Tatum high school were allowed to witness the positive role models in their community on a personal level. Find out how Coach Evans took on the challenge of a "Fatherless Generation" in hopes of building better leaders for our future.
Take advantage of this Complementary course. There is plenty to learn from these coaches who have built successful careers
Always be growing!
