#3 – Georgia’s Standard: Effort is Taught, Not Assumed

At Georgia, success isn’t left to chance—it’s built rep by rep, drill by drill, and habit by habit. The Bulldogs’ consistency under Kirby Smart comes from one simple but profound idea: effort isn’t optional, and it isn’t assumed. It’s taught, demanded, and reinforced every single day.

OL Coach Stacy Searels shows how this works in practice. Georgia doesn’t waste time standing around. They don’t over-coach on the field. Instead, teaching happens in the meeting room, and the field is for action. Every rep is a drill in effort—whether it’s the T-Boards, Punch Away, or Tunch Punch—but it’s also in how players sprint on and off the field, how they transition, and how they attack every moment of practice.

As Searels puts it,

“At Georgia, we teach effort because the standard is the standard.”

That standard is visible in how 44 players are working at once, not 22, and how tempo in practice builds habits that carry into Saturday. For coaches, it’s a reminder that effort isn’t just a mindset—it’s a skill you can coach into your program.

2025 Season Outlook:

Georgia enters the season fresh off another SEC Championship and CFP run, and the standard remains sky-high. Gunner Stockton takes over at quarterback, backed by a veteran offensive line and an infusion of explosive new weapons on offense. Defensively, the Bulldogs are reloading up front but remain loaded with talent and athleticism across the roster. With a favorable schedule and Kirby Smart’s culture of accountability, another playoff run is very much on the table.

If you want to see how effort is built into every fiber of a team, this is a masterclass in how the nation’s elite programs sustain success.
