Head Coach Loren Montgomery is leading a long-term run of success. As they pursue what would be their program’s sixth consecutive state title, the Spartans are 68-1 in their last 69 games.

Each of the previous two Bixby title teams had Connor Kirby at quarterback, and now his younger brother is lighting it up for the Spartan offense. Against Broken Arrow, sophomore Carson Kirby was 15-of-18 passing for 303 yards. There were touchdown connections of 16 and 38 yards with Jet Perez, 66 and 36 yards with Cord Nolan, 51 yards with Garrett Vaughn and 59 yards with Jett Turner.

Offense Leaders:

QB Carson Kirby 84 of 110 for 1,262 yards (76%) and 21TD/2 INT

WR Garrett Vaughn23 for 372 yards and 5 TD

RB Jett Turner 40 carries for 309 yards (7.7 avg) and 5 TD

The offense is led by OC Tyler Schneider.  He and the staff have put together a well-thought out and organized offense, and he's shared that in a video series he has recently released.

We highlight aspects of his series in our Team of the Week profile.

What They Learned

Speeding up a process to success always comes from learning, and that’s what the Bixby staff has been able to do.  The good part is that in our virtual world where we can learn from others, we can avoid the mistakes made by learning from others.  Coach Schneider outlines and explains what their staff learned along the way of putting together this juggernaut offense.

Multiplicity from a Simple, Organized Structure

Taking base formations and adding tags allows Bixby to do a lot and present many looks to a defense.  Ultimatley taking this approach allows you to find advantages whether that is in numbers, personnel matchups, or space. Coach Schneider shares how they adjust formations in this next video:

Multiple Run Game

Effectiveness on offense comes from repetition of schemes and same as learning especially for the offensive line.  He explains how this works with their Counter GT in this video:

Adjustable Passing Game

As with the run game, less can be more.  Having to have the perfect call for a certain coverage doesn’t all for a consistent effectively attack, especially with how defenses are mixing up coverages in today’s defense.  Having routes that allow you to take multiple coverage allow you to keep moving the chains regardless of what coverage they are in. Coach Schneider shares a quick game concept which accomplishes that in this video:

Gadgets

Finding ways to get all your playmakers the ball and get as many hats into the blocking scheme is an advantageous strategy.  Here is a gadget which the utiilze with one of their base run schemes which add the QB as a blocker and direct snaps the ball to a receiver who has motioned into the backfield.

Tempo and Efficiency with One Word Calls

Another aspect of the Bixby offense is the use of one word calls.  They utilize them for the purposes of tempo but also for ease of communication.  Coach Schneider illustrates one of those calls on game film in this video:

Thanks to Coach Schneider for sharing his resources and good luck to everyone this week.

Always be growing!
