Coach ,

He’s been the talk of the league both for his role as the offensive coordinator of one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL and for the next opportunity to lead a team himself. Hopefully, he gets his chance after bringing the Chiefs to a third straight AFC Championship game and two Super Bowls in a row.

Kansas City Chiefs shared plenty of insight into what makes himself and the Chiefs successful in his clinic talk at the Louisiana Football Coaches Association Clinic.  Here are three lessons from coach.

#1) Be a person of Value. As a rookie, coach Dan Henning pointed out to Eric “You need to understand that we don’t need you to play running back. You need to learn your way.” Later that day, the personnel director pulled him aside and told Bienemy, “You are going about this the wrong way - Seek not to be a person of success. Be a person of value.” He learned how to play special teams and it opened up avenues for him. He became a value. He shares the story and insight in this video (Click image for video):

#2) Four disciplines that need to be maintained if you want to be a coordinator or head coach. Coach Bienemy explains how important it is to have clarity and cohesiveness if you want to lead a unit or team. (Click image for video)

#3) Build and develop trust. It allows the connection that you need to establish strong relationships. He explains how that fits into 5 behavioral principles that the Chiefs embrace. (Click image for video).

Coach Bienemy shares much more in his clinic talk “Organizational Excellence and Offensive Success.” He clearly defines what he does as a coach to help his unit and team be successful.

Always be growing!
