4 Tite Front Movements to Disrupt Blocking Schemes

Coach ,

The Tite Front has become a popular answer for much of what spread offenses are trying to do to put a defense in conflict.  It allows the inside gaps to be controlled while taking defenders out of conflict.

It also allows for a variety of movements, pressures, and blitzes that can disrupt blocking schemes and protections.

Here’s a sampling from four coaches who love to use the Tite Front to create chaos.

Mike St. Germain - DC, Kutztown

Coach Germain uses a pressure off the edge which he calls “Steer/Saints.” It’s a concept that helped them get off the field on 3rd down.  It speeds up the timing of the QB.  Coach likes man coverage along with it.  He explains Steer/Saints in this video (click on image for video):

Nick Davis - HC, Ottawa University

Nick Davis believes in creating a multiple defense, so it’s no surprise the Tite Front has made its way into what he does. In this example he brings pressure off the edge while being sure to account for both the RB and QB with “Spies.”  (click on image for video):

Branden Jakubcin - DC, Heidelberg University

It’s called “America’s Blitz” because everyone in the country seems to find a way to use it out of whatever front they use.  Coach Jakubcin illustrates how they use “America” in this video (click on image for video):

Allan Moore - DC, Otterbein University

Bringing all defenders in the box is a good way to get immediate pressure on a QB and speed him up.  Of course, coming straight over the gap which the defenders are aligned make it easy, so Coach Moore likes their Pick Pressure which utilizes a cross blitz by the inside linebackers.(click on image for video):

This is only a sample of the many things that can be done from the Tite Front.

The Tite Front has proven effective across high school and college football.  What makes it fun to use is that allows a creative defensive coordinator the ability to utilize the talent he has to use pressure to disrupt the blocking schemes and protections.

Have fun researching and fitting your talent to best defend the offenses you will face this season!

Always be growing!
