Coach ,
Our CoachesClinic.com HS Team of the Week is Massillon Washington HS in Ohio, knocking off the #1 ranked team in Ohio in MaxPreps (#10 nationally) and climbing into the top Max Preps Top 25.
With a big win over the #10 Max Preps ranked team in the country (#1 in Ohio), Massillon Washington’s defeat of St. Edward HS 15-13 earned them the #24 ranking in the country.
Massillon is a storied program which had Paul Brown and Earl Bruce as past head coaches, and Chris Spielman and John McVay (Sean McVay’s grandfather) amongst it long list of notable players.
The 2023 Tigers are off to a 5-0 start and looking to win their first ever state championship on the field. The Tigers have 24 state championships, but all were earned in the poll era prior to the establishment of the OHSAA play off system. Brown won six of those, and Bruce won two. Current Head Coach has two state-runner up seasons (2018 & 2019).
We have had three current Tiger staffers present in our clinics. Let’s get some insight into what they do to help make the Tigers successful on the field.
Tiger Defense
Coach Moore discusses how they play multiple front variations in this video from his clinic “3-4 and 4-2 Defense.”
A big part of the Tiger’s offensive attack is their “Vertical passing game.” Troxler outlines their concepts in this video:
