We finish our Coach Excellence Series with 12 days of Christmas...

Coach Mohns is highly regarded in his ability to build a championship program as well as his offensive expertise.  He was the lone high school coach the Tony Franklin featured at his “OC Magic” in 2018.

I was at Franklin’s OC Magic and Texas offensive line coach Herb Hand, speaking after Mohns on heape praise on Mohns, sitting in the front row. 

“I’m so fired up for you, dude. One day I hope I work for you. You’ve got it figured out, dude. If you’re going to overhaul your whole system, go do what he does. No wonder he scores 50 points a game.” 

Franklin praised Mohns as well predicting that Mohns would be a guy coaching at the major college level soon.

Here’s a preview of what’s waiting for you.  Mohns gets a lot of bang for his buck with the concepts he uses.  Starting with a pre snap gift to the boundary, the QB has the ability to exploit any space given with free access to the X. This is the QB read version of the GT Counter.  The QB is reading the end to see if he closes.  If he does, the receivers are blocking for sweep on the edge.  If he stays home, the QB keeps on the counter scheme.

The Counter scheme is easily applied to the RPO game, shown here with a receiver screen.  The pre snap gift is still an option, but now the running back has the counter path with the H as the second puller, and the QB reading the apex for run or give.
