Coach Wylie gives his thoughts on how the players have a mindset heading into the game we as coaches have to have one as well.

One of the most important moments in the football game occurs between the snaps. At a minimum, there are two voices that the player will hear loud and clear in those moments.
The voices are the one in their head and whoever is yelling at them from the sideline. Regardless of a positive or negative play, we need a player who reacts to those verbal cues and most importantly, in a constructive way.
Will they adapt to the steps they took that missed the block? Will they plan how to negate the pass rusher’s favorite move?
How you communicate and build those athletes throughout the week will dictate how they act and receive information in those moments.
Once that process has happened, there has to be a turning of the page and an adjustment to the next play and the plan to win it. The most common trait in players that accomplish this and get it done the next play is that they are relaxed and move to the next plan.
Of course, the lessons that coaches teach athletes serve them best when they can be applied off the field. Teaching players how to respond and adjust works for everything in life.
