Coach ,
Happy Halloween from CoachesClinic! We put together Some Tricks and a Treat to celebrate this day.
The Tricks
Masks for your Offense
Arizona State Tight Ends Coach Jason Mohns has always worked to stay simple but look complex in his offensive schematics. Motions and formations can act as masks for any offense.
Coach Mohns likes to use motion to ignite the offense. Motion can mask intentions. The different ways he uses motion to compliment his base run game are through fly sweep, orbit, trade, and backfield motions to create the "illusion of complexity" in his offense. He explains the main thing they are trying to do and how it sets up the entire offense in this video:

Utilizing Unbalanced Formations in the multiple spread offense is another way to dress up your favorite plays. In this course, Coach Mohns describes how he uses unbalanced formations to add the "illusion of complexity" to his base run game. Coach diagrams and explains his tackle over calls, "Up" tags, and WR "Ghost" tags to add unbalanced elements to his base offense. Coach creates three and four man surfaces in the run game, and creates numbers advantages on the perimeter to create advantages over the defense.

Footballās version of Frankenstein - the Thorterback
The Saints Taysom Hill delivered another part QB, part RB, part WR performance this past Sunday.
From SaintsWire:
Taysom Hill joined rare company with his do-it-all performance against the Indianapolis Colts. The Saintsā Swiss army knife is closing in on NFL history ā heās one of a select few players who have gained 40-plus yards as a passer and runner with 10 or more receiving yards in multiple gamesā¦.Hill is one more game away from tying them (Walter Payton and John David Crowe did this 5x), and two from making the record his own.
Hillās abilities to be a QB/WR/RB started in his college days at BYU under Coach Jason Beck. CoachBeck has continued to look for this type of player throughout his career. He explains the birth of the āThorterbackā here:

Trick Play - Fight Song
This is a play that Coach Brandon Bailey learned at a clinic from Bill Blankenship. It involved hiding a tackle on the outside making him look like a receiver but still being eligible, and hiding the tight end in the tackle spot. Often times this play ends up with the tight end being uncovered because the defense thinks he is the offensive tackle.
