Identify, Analyze, React - How Michigan QB Coach Kirk Campbell Trains Execution and Efficiency

Coach -
Great offensive line play, masterful play calling and efficient quarterback play were key ingredients to Michigan's National Championship run.
QB JJ McCarthy was #5 in the country with a 72.3% completion rate and finished #9 in passing efficiency at 167.42.
When you watch the execution, he makes great decisions, and the ball is out quick.
Those two attributes are accomplished through coaching and training, and QB Coach Kirk Campbell did an excellent job in preparing his QB. Listen to him talk about his philosophy and methods on Coverage Recognition here.
Coach Campbell believes in training coverage recognition through film and drills, giving the QB simple keys that allow him to move through his progression quickly.
How fast does he expect his QB to progress? On his teach tape (link below), Coach Campbell says, “He should be on his ‘Drive’ before we even blink.”
He shows those on some clips from his teach tape in this next video. With a structure that allows the QB to work a progression on either side based on his initial key, you can see why Michigan is able to get the ball out quickly and how JJ McCarthy benefitted from utiizing these keys.

What is Lauren’s First and Goal?
Lauren's First and Goal is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, a labor of love started in 2004 by John and Marianne Loose in honor of their daughter, Lauren, a pediatric brain tumor survivor. The Loose family started the foundation as a way to help other families who are battling childhood cancer.
Since its inception, LFG has raised more than $2.7 million toward its mission to provide financial support for brain tumor research and cancer services, to offer financial and emotional support to families living with pediatric cancer, and to increase awareness of the disease. These goals are made possible through the funding gained through LFG Football Camp, Virtual Clinic and charitable contributions.
