Coach ,
As the weather gets better and you’re able to get your players outside, speed comes to the forefront of every coach's mind.
If you’re like me, you took interest in the NFL Combine last month and if you followed the drama on social media. It appears that the average 40 yard dash times have significantly improved which has led to rumors of timing system errors, turf improvements, and shoe design benefits.
While these all are worth investigating, the reality seems to be that coaches have found ways to better improve their athletes speed.
David Montgomery ran 4.64 at his pro day combine back in 2019. This run likely cost him millions of dollars as he dropped into the 3rd round before being selected by the Chicago Bears.
After his rookie season Montgomery reached out to Chris Korfist and began training with the Sprint Coach. Korfist credits one drill for addressing David’s biggest weaknesses.

There are two variations of this key exercise
- Bent Knee
- Straight Leg
Understanding when and why to use each one to address is paramount to sprint success. In this clip Chris Korfist explains the uses of both variations and why he applies the exercise when he does.

I want to thank Coach Chris Korfist for sharing. To learn more about what makes Chris one of the most sought after speed coaches you can check out some of his programs here--->
