Coach Leipold has a remarkable coaching career, including:

  • Winning six NCAA Division III national championships in eight seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
  • Being named the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year for NCAA Division III in 2007, 2009, and 2011.
  • Leading the University of Buffalo to its first bowl win in program history at the 2019 Bahamas Bowl.
  • a five-time conference coach of the year and the fastest coach in NCAA history to reach 100 career wins
  • leading the Jayhawks to back-to-back bowl games in 2022 and 2023, a feat that has only been done in Lawrence once in program history
