Coach ,

Week 1 of the college season is here and we start with a CoachesClinic match-up of two high powered offenses. Our own Coach Kaufmann, broke it down and gives us a look at the OC's of these high-powered offenses.

The Match-up

In what was a great matchup in 2022 that saw the game decided on the last play tipping in the Seminoles favor. A game that featured a muffed punt, PAT block and a two touchdown comeback. Believe that the 2023 matchup will prove to be possibly one of the best matchups of the entire season and that both teams will show up locked in after last year's contest.

Elite is the theme of this game, both teams display elite offenses that averaged over 450 yards per game. Both return quarterbacks with playing experience that many believe will pump out successful 2023 campaigns. Both teams have quality lines on both sides of the ball. But most of all they both had a taste of success last season each winning 10 games and are both poised for a better outcome in the 2023 campaign.

Taking a larger dive into offense this week we look to the offensive coordinators for both these programs for the material to help you adjust.

Coach Alex Atkins shares incredible material regarding some nuances that can be added to your gap scheme both technique wise and some screens and passes to expand the playbook. Small changes and additions that are “cheap” when it comes to practice time can ultimately be major game changers and dictate some of your late season success. Check out this snippet to understand some of the screen/counter additions FSU is using.

If you want to add additional options to very similar schemes, looking into RPO’s is a great course of action. RPO’s are as simple or complicated as you make them and the various run actions that you pair them with can cause major complications for the defense. The skip RPO adds an interesting element to both run play and the action that is required from the defense to defend it. I like this alot because of the TE utilization and the complications added by that alone.

At the end of the day these concepts are going to create problems for both defenses. Shaping up to be one of the most exciting matchups of the regular season you will want to tune into this one. Use these courses to progress your offense and give yourself additional advantages and schemes to push your team over the edge and toward success!
