Chance to see & workshop news!
Nov 18, 2025 5:57 pm
Dear ,
It was a busy weekend of all things creative this last weekend: two private views for the opening of 'The Stolen Orange' exhibition & my first 1 day taster cyanotype workshop at Phoenix Artspace. See above for both.
So the private views for the Stolen Orange were a huge success, lovely to see so many of you. So now the show is open there is plenty of opportunity to see it still ....like all the best galleries the entrance is down a cobbled alley:
The Stolen Orange
15 November - 14 December
Bond St Gallery, 4 Bond Street, Brighton
Opening times: Mon - Sun 11am till 6 pm
I Feel You There, gelli print acrylic on cartridge paper, 44x32cm, 2025, £150
I have this print in the exhibition which features over eighty painters, sculptors, writers, makers celebrating the words of Mersey poet Brian Patten.
'...when I went out I stole an orange, It was a safeguard against imagining There was nothing bright or special in the world!' Extract from 'The Stolen Orange' by Brian Patten
We were also asked to respond with a poem here is my artwork and corresponding poem below. There is to be a poetry reading evening but as yet I don't know the date...if you are interested let me know & I can let you know directly when I do.
I Feel You There, gelli print acrylic on cartridge paper, 44x32cm, 2025
Poem paired with artwork above:
I feel you there in my pocket,
a foreign body rolling back and forth as I walk,
I toy with you absent mindedly at first
but soon I take notice of your skin dimpled but smooth,
when I hold you your skin heats with mine
when I squeeze you your subcutaneous tissue yields so satisfyingly,
you are small and insignificant
yet knowing you are there makes me radiate like your hue
your strong juicy smell makes me think of summers gone past
You are an every day joy,
my silent companion.

Cyanotype workshop at Phoenix Art Space Saturday
Their cyanotype course was sold out in the first few hours of the class going live on Phoenix Artspace's website and with the workshop being so well received 3 more dates are to be announced shortly... they will be late January onwards. And of course I will let you know first. If you know that you are interested then let me know asap & I will give Phoenix your email address to go on the list to contact.
This taster session runs from 10.30am - 4.30pm & gives you all the skills needed to make successful cyanotypes. With lots of different techniques along the way too explore & your own frame worthy prints to take home at the end of the day. This day workshop costs £75 and would make a great Christmas present too.
