Sculpture update

So the week has arrived, the work is up bar finishing one painting, the wine & cheese bought (larger & soft drinks too), just the final touches to be done.

Here are the details again:

Party on Friday, the 25th of April from 6 pm until 9 pm (may well go on later) with cheese and wine, music, and general merriment.

I will also open on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th of April which you can come see the work, have a chat and cup of tea and biscuits between 10am and 4pm.

20 minutes by train (10mins) and foot (10mins) from Brighton station and 15 minutes by car, there is free parking on boundary Road if you can’t find a space on North Street itself. Half way along the street opposite the entrance to the Underground Gym, buzz no.30 Trafalgar House.

Sorry there is no lift in the building so no disability access

Vegvísir screenprints

The drawn line is a visual cue for ghost netting (abandoned fishing nets and rope) entangled with floating islands of plastic and micro plastics finding its way to our internal sea. Are we altering from the inside out?

A Vegvísir is magical ancient Icelandic stave, a wayfinder used for safe passage across the perilous seas. Whilst writing a funding proposal to make immersive sculptural work with ghost netting earlier in the year; the creation of this drawing (now screen prints) became my constant companion. A detangling then re entangling of entangled thoughts and feelings about the environmental damage to the sea, its inhabitants and us.
