Good Afternoon.  image

One of our first employees was Kenny. He was a former marine and could tell stories like no other. Around the shop he frequently uttered the Marine Slogan: "Improvise. Adapt. Overcome"

That feels like the perfect phrase to explain what we are all going through right now. As we have seen the Coronavirus paralyze the world, virtually everything has changed from just a few weeks ago. Information is still coming in, and the temptation to give into the fear of the unknown is great.

Avoiding the political conversation, some things are clear. Taking care of our health is critical and must be our top priority. We are taking measures for our team, their families, and our clients to stay healthy. As it has been said elsewhere, it'll be pretty obvious if we aren't cautious enough. With that in mind, in the ever fluid situation, we are remaining open with some adjustments. Our front door is locked to control the flow and prevent too many people being in the showroom at a time. Knock or call when you get here, and we will let you in or hand you your order at the door. If you would prefer us to ship/deliver your order, we can discuss those options as well. We will Improvise.

However, there is a second piece that I feel needs to be discussed. It's a clear #2, but it could have longer lasting repercussions. That's the economic impact. Several industries have been hugely impacted, and the trickledown effect is pretty big. Lots of our neighbors are without jobs as they are part of the "supply" chain that has been closed. No travel means tourism is all but shut down. Hotels, restaurants, travel agents, venues, even our local "activity" places (i.e. trampoline parks, go-cart tracks, etc.) are all hurting. All businesses will suffer. Small businesses have much less room for this to continue. It's noble to say employees will continue to get paid during this time. But let's be clear, that can't continue forever.

Looking through a small window, our business relies on other businesses looking to increase their visibility. We are optimistic we can make it through these times. I am remembering the struggles in '08 and '09. Improvise Adapt Overcome!

I am confident we will get through this challenge. We will get through it as we support each other. You can use this "shutdown" time to wallow, or you can use this time as an opportunity to plan for what are you going to do when we're coming through the other side.

We are here for you to whatever capacity you need. Whether you need something printed or not, I am happy to chat and help think through a plan for success. It is often helpful to talk out loud and get out of your own head. If I can’t help you, I’m happy to share my resources that can fill the gaps. Call us, email us, video chat. Let's work together to create a plan for your success. Stay relevant, and this will be a blip on the radar instead of permanently crippling.
