Howdy ,

Have you had to deal with a toxic boss?

Let me let you into something about dealing with toxic bosses.

To do that, let's come around the old fable about the scorpion and the frog...

The scorpion asks the frog for a ride across the river. The frog hesitates, afraid of being stung. The scorpion argues that stinging the frog would be self-destructive since they would both drown.

The frog agrees, but midway across, the scorpion stings the frog anyway.

As they both sink, the frog asks "Why?" The scorpion replies: "It's my nature."

Here's why this matters for dealing with toxic bosses:

Just like the scorpion, most toxic bosses often can't help their nature. Understanding this is crucial for your survival strategy.

Quick tip you can use today: Instead of trying to change your toxic boss (like the frog tried to reason with the scorpion), focus on protecting yourself while maintaining your professionalism.

It's this sort of stuff that I'll be teaching in my upcoming workshop "Winning at Work With Toxic & Difficult Bosses." The date is March 1, 2025.

In the workshop, you'll learn:

  • How to identify your boss's specific type of toxicity
  • Proven strategies for each toxic boss type
  • Ways to protect your career and self-confidence
  • When to stay and when to go

Don't be the frog. Be prepared.

P.S. Remember, a toxic boss won't change their nature, but you can change how you handle them.
