Why Your Communication Style Might Be Killing Your Career
Howdy ,
Here's something they don't teach you: Your communication style works great with some people and completely fails with others.
I learned this early in my career when a baby boomer senior colleague called me aside and said, "I don't like the way you write 'Hi HerFirstName' in emails. It feels too casual."
I changed. Whenever I write emails to her, I write, "Hello HerFirstName".
That simple change transformed our working relationship. She became one of my strongest advocates.
The reality: Different generations, cultures, and hierarchies require different communication approaches.
Your action today: Before sending your next email to someone senior, ask yourself: "Should this be 'Hi Sarah' or 'Hello Ms. Johnson'?"
This simple tweak might give you an edge over others.
Master this, and you'll stand out. Adapt your communication to your audience.
Join me this Saturday for "The First 5 Years: Building Your Early Career Edge" masterclass, where I'll share the complete transformation system to give your career the foundation it needs.
