Once upon a time, I had a call with a lady who was having challenges navigating her next career move.

What was the problem?

She had spent most of her career working professionally at not-for-profit organizations.

And so she thought she was limited in the options she had for the future.

So what did we do?

We mapped out all the key skills she had built up over the years and the key skills she was using in her current role.

Next, we looked at the various sectors where those skills would be relevant.

And voila, the world was now her oyster.

She had more options than she thought.

This is important because most employers focus more on skill-based recruitment than some nice-sounding educational qualification or certification.

A certification is only important if it indicates that you have the skills to do the job they are recruiting for.

When you want to make that next career move, don’t be jaundiced by the industries - focus on the places where you can quickly leverage your skills to move faster to the next level.

Yes, you may have to learn industry lingo - but it’s not rocket science. Even if you are planning to work at NASA, SpaceX, or Blue Origin. You will be fine.
