When You Know What Your Boss Isn't Saying
Once upon a time, I was on a call at home with a more senior person at my company.
My wife overheard parts of the conversation and wondered “I hope everything is OK”
You see parts of the conversation sounded like the guy on the other side was making a complaint.
I told her that this wasn’t the case.
He was asking for help without asking for help.
Not everyone will come out straight and tell you that they are overwhelmed.
That they would like you to take up an additional task.
Some complain about what they think you should be doing even if it is what they are currently doing.
This was one of those situations.
I could fight back and we could do a merry back-and-forth dance.
Or I could just help him.
Even if it seems like it started as a complaint.
This is one of the things I teach in people development.
You need to develop your bosses and subordinates.
To do that, you need to listen to what they are asking for and not just what they are saying.
It’s a skill that helps you advance in your career.
As always
Keep Multiplying what you have been given by God in life.
