Be careful what you say before your next idea

Howdy ,

Ever catch yourself saying things like "I'm not sure if this makes sense, but..." before sharing an idea in a meeting?

I've watched brilliant colleagues do this.

This Monday, I want to challenge you to think about something: What if the real workplace challenge isn't the mountain of emails waiting for you, but how we speak to each other?

The Communication Mask

For many professionals, Monday means putting on their "workplace communication persona" - editing their words, hiding their authentic voice, and ultimately, diminishing their impact.

They use phrases like:

"Sorry to bother you, but..."

"I'm not an expert, but..."

"This might be a stupid question..."

No wonder so many dread workplace conversations! When you constantly filter your thoughts through layers of self-doubt, communication becomes exhausting.

The Power of Clear Messaging

When your communication aligns with who you really are, even Monday conversations become energizing, not draining.

I've experienced this transformation myself. The turning point came when I realized that clear, confident communication isn't about being perfect - it's about being present and purposeful.

As I developed what I now call the "Professional Messaging Quadrant," I learned to frame what I say and how I say it to build my brand while staying true to my values.

Instead of undermining my own expertise with phrases like "I'm not sure if I'm right," I began using language that reflected confidence: "Based on my experience, I believe..."

Your Monday Reset

Today, I invite you to try something different:

Catch yourself before using self-diminishing language.

Replace phrases like "This might be a silly idea" with "Here's a perspective to consider."

When you communicate with clarity and confidence, even the most mundane Monday conversations become meaningful opportunities to create value.

Fellow Workplace Multiplier, today doesn't have to be just another day of filtered communication. It can be the start of speaking with authentic power.

And that changes everything.

You can win at work and in life.
