Yesterday’s email was about the five professional profiles.
One reader wrote back: "You said 'You plateau not because you lack talent, but because others can't count on you.' What do you mean by plateau?"
Great question. Here's what I mean:
When you plateau, your career hits a ceiling. You stop getting bigger opportunities, stronger roles, and the growth your talent should unlock.
Not because you're not capable, but because trust becomes the constraint.
In most workplaces, the next level isn't given to the most talented person. It's given to the person others can count on: consistent delivery, predictable follow-through, dependable ownership.
If your results are up-and-down, or people have to "cover" for you, you stay stuck, even with potential.
This is why Foundation matters. Without it, brilliance doesn't translate to advancement.
And here's the problem: You can't see this pattern from inside it.
Building Foundation professionals think: "I just need better time management."
Capable Strivers think: "I just need to work smarter."
Solid Performers don't realize comfort is making them obsolete.
