Faith & Life Lessons – November 3, 2024
Nov 04, 2024 6:16 am
Welcome to the November 3rd edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week.
A high point of my week was meeting up with our marriage mentors.
Yes, we have those.
He is 87 years, and she is 62 years and together they make a great advisory combo for us.
When we asked them for their plans for the rest of the year, it was so sweet to hear.
They are currently in Minnesota. In a few weeks, they will be driving out (yes, he still drives) to Arizona (a lovely warm spot for Christmas). In December, they'll take a few days off to Hawaii before continuing the rest of their holiday time together.
After our meet-up, I told my wife - "we need to keep building deep friendships with ourselves so that we make those future years fun together."
They gave us something to aim for just by living their lives normally.
Lessons learnt from living well.
And they are still committed to serving God every day.
The wife is currently serving as a choir director in their small church.
They keep living and serving...bearing fruit even in old age.
A wonderful Life.
Things I Learnt
1 - When God Encourages You: I bet you remember the story of David & Goliath. As David was preparing for his encounter, he told King Saul that God who had delivered him from the lion and bear would give him success.
Well, I have been having a lot of those times in recent times.
Let me give you the full picture.
I have a goal that is completely off-base from all my plans. The only reason it is on my goal is because God told me to put it there. Not only put it there but also commit resources and time towards achieving it.
I’m not a newbie to hearing God. I have learned to do that since my teenage years. When a goal is so big, I occasionally wonder if it isn’t the mind playing tricks on me. Or if it wasn’t a case of my meals talking to me.
Anyhow, God has been giving me a lot of “lion and bear” moments to reassure me that I wasn’t hearing wrongly.
Over the weekend, I was making an international flight. I had tried to keep under the luggage limit by dropping as many of my books as I could.
I eventually left for the airport with a number I was comfortable with but might still be over the luggage limit.
On my way to the airport, I heard God say “You will not have to pay for excess luggage.”
When I got to the airport, I was told that they were having some minor technical issues and it was likely that my luggage would not arrive at my destination with me.
It would likely arrive days after. Because of that, the airline staff told me to move whatever essentials I would need into my hand luggage.
This meant they waived the hand luggage weight limit.
When I arrived at my destination, I heard God tell me “Your luggage will arrive with you.”
To my surprise, I saw my bags come up the conveyor belt - none was delayed.
God was encouraging me.
I haven’t been hearing butterflies in my head.
God is at work.
Even with a huge goal to achieve.
God is still at work.
2 - A Time for Every Idea: As you can imagine, I have a lot of ideas to drive the goals I am pushing for.
Sometimes, the issue is that I am putting too many ideas in the cooking pot.
During the week, I had to do a sit-down and review some of the ideas.
Some of them will be going into the next year.
And some of them will be used to push the next 6-7 weeks into high gear.
I am going to have radical accountability for myself during the next few weeks.
I will be finishing the year strong.
I’ll be working with the right ideas for the season.
Finishing the year to create a bigger new year.
Postscript
May you set yourself up to finish the year strong and prepare yourself for a bigger new year. Amen
