She Did This One Thing Differently (And It Worked)
Howdy ,
Quick question: What did you learn yesterday that you didn't know on Tuesday?
If you're drawing a blank, you're experiencing what I call "learning drift", the slow decline that happens when we stop intentionally growing.
Today's Reality Check: While you've been doing the same tasks, someone in your field learned a new skill. While you've been comfortable with your current knowledge, someone has expanded their capability. While you've been maintaining, someone has been advancing.
Once upon a time, I had a client I worked with one-on-one. I loved her commitment to learning and implementing what she learned.
During our time together, there were some recommended books that were part of the coaching. She showed a strong commitment to everything in the whole process.
It was no surprise that she was able to meet the objectives she set for our time together. She also committed to doing daily research and would share the results of her research on key learning areas.
She was implementing the cornerstone of building personal excellence.
ABC
“Always Be Converting.”
Converting knowledge into action.
And Actions deliver results.
That is how you expand your capability.
Let’s do that for you today
The 20-Minute Learning Sprint:
Step 1 (5 minutes): Pick one challenge you're facing at work right now.
Step 2 (10 minutes): Find one article, video, or resource that addresses this specific challenge from someone who's solved it before.
Step 3 (5 minutes): Write down one insight you can apply immediately and one question you still have.
Why This Works: You're not trying to master everything in 20 minutes. You're building learning momentum. Small, consistent learning compounds into expertise faster than sporadic intensive efforts.
The Compound Effect: Twenty minutes daily equals over 120 hours annually of targeted professional development. That's more than most professionals invest in growth over three years.
Your Thursday Challenge: Complete your 20-minute learning sprint before lunch. Not when you have time. Not when it's convenient. Before lunch.
Because the professionals who thrive don't wait for perfect learning conditions—they create learning opportunities from their current challenges.
See you tomorrow for the final piece,
Keep winning at work and in life.
