What do you want to be trusted with next?

Howdy ,

Think about the next level of responsibility you want.

It might be a bigger role.

A board seat.

Greater commercial authority.

A larger team.

More strategic influence.

A business that can operate without you.

Now ask:

What would someone have to believe about me before they could safely give me that responsibility?

Perhaps they need to trust your judgment.

Perhaps your follow-through.

Perhaps your ability to stay proportionate under pressure.

Perhaps your Standards.

Perhaps they need evidence that the organisation will not become more dependent on you as your mandate expands.

That gap…between what you are capable of doing and what others are prepared to entrust to you…is worth understanding.
