What would you do if you gave yourself today off?
Howdy ,
Yesterday was Wednesday - you knew that already.
What you might not know is that Wednesday is the day I typically devote to reading a book.
Yes, every day of the week is devoted to personal learning in different areas. I have learning areas I am committed to developing and I mark each day for a unique area.
I decided to do something different yesterday.
I gave myself the day off from my personal learning activity.
Why?
I needed to learn in the silence of my thoughts.
My drive to the office was done in silence - no audio book playing. My afternoon walk was done in silence. Yes, I take walks after lunch and it's a busy commercial area so there are no parks.
My afternoon was mostly done in silence with my thoughts. On my way back, I spent doing the "Pray as you go" app prayer for the day.
The silence was good for me. It was good for my soul. Listening to my thoughts is a renewing practice.
I am comfortable with being with myself. So, I took a day off to be with myself and my thoughts.
What will you do with yourself if you can give yourself a day off from your bigger personal commitments?
You should keep your commitments to yourself. So, make a commitment to give yourself a day off.
It will do wonders for you.
It will help you win better at work and in life.
