People are keeping score

Howdy ,

One thing I have learned about trust at work:

People are keeping score.

Not formally.

But every time you make a commitment, miss a deadline, communicate early, solve a problem, disappear under pressure, or follow through without being chased, you are leaving evidence behind.

Over time, that evidence becomes a pattern.

And that pattern becomes your reputation.

This is why trust is rarely built in one big moment.

It is usually built in very small ones.

You said you would send it by Friday.

Did you?

You said you would speak to the client.

Did you?

You said you would take ownership.

Did you?

These moments may feel insignificant.

They are not.

Because when a bigger responsibility eventually comes up, your leader is not starting from zero.

They are asking themselves:

“Based on what I have seen before, what is likely to happen if I give this to them?”

Your past behaviour is quietly answering that question.

So here is something worth thinking about today:

What pattern are you creating in the minds of the people who work with you?

Because long before the bigger opportunity arrives, the evidence is already being collected.

Keep winning at work and in life,
