Science fiction and fantasy - from Middle America to the ends of the Universe

Hi ,

A quick note today. I'm getting over a viral infection - not covid - but my mind's still a little foggy. Hence the non-subject line subject line.

Before I take another nap, though, I have a couple of things I wanted to let you know about.

New AI-narrated audiobook - Apple only

If you don't listen to audiobooks or use Apple's content ecosystem, go ahead and scroll down to learn about a bunch of free science fiction ebooks.

Still here? Apple recently struck a deal with Draft2Digital, one of my ebook distributors, to offer AI-narrated audiobooks. I know AI can't match the nuance of a good human narrator, but I also know some busy readers are happy with digital voices. Given that, I decided to opt in. Neither me, Draft2Digital, or Apple is trying to fool anyone - Apple's landing page for the audiobook plainly states that it's digitally narrated based on a human voice. It's also a lot cheaper - $5.99 versus the $20-25 that human-narrated audiobooks go for at other venues. An interesting experiment. Let me know what you think

If you have an iTunes account, or whatever Apple is calling it these days, here's the link again:
