Science fiction and fantasy - from Middle America to the ends of the Universe
Hi ,
My kids are back to school. After a summer of camps, playing video games till 11 pm, and sleeping late, they aren't happy about it.
But imagine a planet where summer is only 10 days long. At least winter is as short, and the planet is warm enough that it almost never snows in winter, even near the south pole.
Sounds like the perfect place for a dinosaur preserve.
If you aren't familiar with the Portia Oakeshott, Dinosaur Veterinarian series, I'm talking about the planet of New New South Wales. A fun series to write, with all the Aussie slang, and one of my favorite female leads.
Even better, the next short story in the series is in bookstores now.
Kunbarra and the Whiteants
A Portia Oakeshott, Dinosaur Veterinarian Short Story
As a young girl, Portia Oakeshott dreamed of caring for the reconstructed dinosaurs roaming the preserve near the south pole of her home planet, New New South Wales.
Today, the company’s mission to deploy a new breed of Kunbarrasaur runs into religious fanatics protesting the restoration of extinct species.
Fanatics capable of sabotage. Or worse.
Can Portia face down the fanatics’ leader, or will the opposition triumph?
