Science fiction and fantasy - from Middle America to the ends of the Universe
Hi ,
Finally, cool weather has come to Houston. This week, low temperatures dipped below 50F with low humidity for the first time since early April. If you live in a hot and humid place, you'll know how good it feels. For a week or so, I can pretend I live in northern California.
Other signs of fall are here. My son is in the middle of his football season. The team hasn't done well but I've been impressed with his personal growth. Team sports are good for boys. That shouldn't be news, should it?
And fall brings good reading weather. If you're looking for a science fiction short story, especially one about dinosaurs, it just so happens I've got one for you. Portia Oakeshott's final adventure (at least for now) is available for preorder and goes live late next week.
Loovy and the Lava
A Portia Oakeshott, Dinosaur Veterinarian Short Story
As a young girl, Portia Oakeshott dreamed of caring for the reconstructed dinosaurs roaming the preserve near the south pole of her home planet, New New South Wales.
Now, as a volcanic eruption devastates the preserve, company headquarters orders her to rescue two politicians playing tourist in the path of a lava flow.
She must decide on her own what to do for a Diluvicursor—a loovy—caught on the track of destruction.
The ebook edition is just $2.99 or equivalent at all these stores:
Preorders now. On sale around October 27, 2022. Print single also available, $6.99, here.
What Will Be The Final Publication of 2022?
As you might've noticed, I aim to publish something every two months. Which means the next publication will come around December 29. What should it be? An ebook to upload to that new ereader or smartphone? A paperback to riffle the pages? A hardback edition of one of my more popular titles?
So many choices, and none of them wrong. Let me know what you'd like to see by taking this survey:
What should I publish in December 2022?
Don't wait too long, I'll shut the survey down on November 6.
Happy reading!
