The Growth Note | Ask Better Questions

Read it. Feel it. Do something with it.

────────────

Hey you,

Most people think communication is about giving great answers.

But the longer I study influence, leadership, and connection, the more convinced I am of this:

Your life improves the moment your questions improve.

Great communicators aren’t the ones who know everything — they’re the ones who ask the kind of questions that unlock everything.

This week, in a conversation with a client, one question shifted the entire direction of our meeting. Not because it was clever — but because it created clarity neither of us had seen before.

That’s the power of asking better questions:

They don’t just change the conversation.

They change what becomes possible.

3 Insights on Asking Better Questions

1. Questions Reveal What Answers Hide

Most people talk around problems.

Questions cut through the noise.

A powerful question doesn’t add information — it extracts truth.

That’s why great coaches, leaders, and storytellers all share one skill:

They ask questions that make people think.

2. Questions Create Connection Faster Than Statements

You don’t build trust by sharing your expertise.

You build trust by showing your curiosity.

Questions say:

“I’m here with you.”

“I’m listening.”

“I want to understand, not judge.”

Curiosity lowers defenses.

Statements raise them.

3. Questions Shape Identity

Every question you ask yourself becomes a doorway:

  • Some open new possibilities.
  • Some reinforce old limitations.

Ask a better question…

get a better story…

live a better outcome.

2 Quotes to Reflect On

“The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your questions.” – Tony Robbins

“If you want better answers, ask better questions.” – Chris Voss

1 Stretch for the Week

Craft three intentional questions you will use this week:

  • One for your work (to create clarity)
  • One for your relationships (to deepen connection)
  • One for yourself (to elevate your thinking)

Then ask them — and listen fully to the answer.

You’ll be surprised how quickly a single question can change everything.

If this week’s Growth Note resonated, forward it to someone who asks great questions — or someone who needs a reminder that communication starts with curiosity, not expertise.

More soon — until then, speak boldly.
