The Growth Note | Premeditated Presence
Read it. Feel it. Do something with it.

Hey you,
People always brighten a room.
Some do it when they enter — others when they finally leave.
This week, I was determined to be the first kind.
As a Launch Director for BNI Tampa, I led four Chapter meetings this week of dozens of business owners and professionals. After each one, multiple people came up and said, “Your energy changed the whole meeting.”
That wasn’t an accident.
Before every meeting, before I walk through the door, I take a deep breath and say out loud:
“¡Ánimo!” (pronounced Annie-moe).
It’s a Spanish word that means energy, emotion, excitement, or spirit. It’s what I use to remind myself that energy is contagious — and that presence is a choice.
That’s what I call Premeditated Presence.
3 Ideas on Premeditated Presence
1. Presence is a Decision, Not a Reaction
You don’t stumble into presence — you set it.
Before you walk into a meeting, a one-to-one, or a presentation, decide who you want to be in that room.
Ask: How do I want people to feel after being around me?
That one question changes everything.
2. Preparation Creates Freedom
Premeditated presence doesn’t make you robotic — it frees you to be authentic.
Because when you’ve already set your tone and intention, you can stop overthinking and simply be.
3. Perception is Leadership
Leadership starts before you speak.
If people leave more energized, more confident, or more at peace because of you — that’s real influence.
Premeditated presence turns ordinary moments into leadership moments.

1 Stretch for the Week
Before your next meeting, conversation, or presentation, take 60 seconds to decide:
- What emotion do I want to bring into this room?
- How do I want people to feel when I leave?
Then, act accordingly.
Notice how that tiny moment of intention changes your tone, your posture, and your impact.
If this week’s Growth Note resonated, forward it to someone who brightens the room — or someone who could use a reminder that presence is a choice.
More soon — until then, speak boldly.
