Recap for Thursday (and I can't wait to see you tomorrow!)

Jan 13, 2023 5:46 am

Wow!! What a week! I've been moving so fast and working so hard, and I've enjoyed every second of it! Thursday morning was an amazing day for me because I had a nice amount deposited into my bank account & it made me feel so good!! I've been doing all the things for 8 years. Seriously, 8 years! It's been a long time coming. And if I can do it, you can too!

I just incorporated my business last July. We get to pick the date, so I chose July 4, Independence Day. It's significant for me because I never thought I could do it alone, and I am!

Well, not completely alone, because without amazing supportive women like you, I couldn't keep moving forward. You inspire me! I'm so thankful you've joined this 5 episodes in 5 days challenge!

Here is my final episode for the challenge. I'm sharing it because I know you'll get something out of it. It's a culmination of all the things I've learned over these past 8 years. I would love your feedback on it too. You can reply to this email if you like.

Here's what we talked about today. I still don't know much about Podcorn, but I put an open message to Jennifer in the group so she, or someone else, can tell us about it.

Advertisers (works best with over 10,000 downloads)

Here is the email from Rob, VP at Libsyn:

“Hi Jen,

Per your questions:

If someone has 4,000 downloads, they’d get around $100 per episode (depending on genre, etc.) correct?

In Theory for one Ad drop for an episode - Yes - as the typical CPM for a host read ad is around $25.

I say in Theory - because in practice for host read ads - today most advertisers are looking for shows 10,000 per episode or larger.

That means most people getting 4,000 per episode will not be getting host read ads. So that means they are looking more at Programatic ads. And then it is about how many downloads they get per month for ALL episodes combined and at a much lower CPM rate per ad.

Is the ad revenue different if the episodes are different lengths? For instance, if someone does 1 one-hour episode and 1 ten-minute episode per week, would they make the same from ads for each episode?

It just depends on how many ads you do. If you do one ad drop (say Casper) it will be the same regardless of the length of the episode.

If you have a longer episode - 60 minutes - you might do 3 ad reads for 3 different advertisers and in that case you get triple the revenue.

Do you have a link to an article or something I can share with monetization details? I’m doing the research, but I trust what you’ve done & would like to share it.

The link above is per the average ad rates we see. Again this is per Host Read 60 second ad reads - and that means for shows getting at least 10k per episode in the first 30 days.”

So there we have it. Let’s work on doing what we can in our own business to monetize & that advertising will come later. You’ve got this!!

Niche down, there’s riches in the niches!

Here’s what we all need to remember:

“What makes you unique? That + solving your audience’s pain point will be your sweet spot. Be the one.”
