Free Backpacks, Rental Assistance & More...

In this week's email you will find helpful resources for the following:

  • Upcoming back to school events
  • A financial assistance program managed by Catholic Charities that offers $1500 to families impacted by COVID 19
  • Vaccine information
  • New website to help felons in Houston find employment

Free Backpack Giveaways

The Mayor's Back To School Fest (which takes place August 14th) is one of the largest free school supply drives in Houston, but it's not the only one. You can find even more non profits and churches who are helping kiddos with school supplies in the guide 8 Houston Back To School Backpack Giveaway Events.

Catholic Charities Is Offering $1500 In Financial Assistance To Families Impacted By COVID 19

To register for this program you'll need to visit HarrisCountyRelief.org. The deadline to submit an application is August 11th.

The selected households will receive a one-time payment of $1500. Assistance is not provided on a first come, first serve basis. Instead families are selected for assistance based on who has the greatest need.

Again the deadline is August 11th, so don't delay if you or a client needs the assistance.

How To Find A COVID 19 Vaccine

There are multiple options for scheduling a COVID 19 vaccine, but Vaccines.gov, seems to be the easiest way to find a vaccine. Like I mentioned last week, this site allows you to search for the specific vaccine you are interested in (Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson) by zip code.

The Houston Healthcare Jobs Is Temporarily Down For Maintenance

HoustonHeatlhcareJobs.com is temporarily down due to updates that are being made to the job board. Everything should be good to go in about 24-48 hours, so just check back on Wednesday.

Coming Soon: New Employment Assistance Website For Individuals In Houston With Criminal Records

In the next month or so we will roll out a website that specifically helps individuals in Houston who have criminal records to find local felony-friendly companies.

In addition, there will be supportive housing and and medical resources to make the transition back to society a little easier for those who are just released from incarceration. Again more on that in the coming weeks.

Have a great day!
