The smile effect.....

Jul 29, 2020 11:31 pm

Hello

Two days ago, I needed to rectify something at the bank; my heart did 10 backflips at once. I hate the thought of going into a bank hall, it makes me so uncomfortable; the crowd, the wait, the security door issue....hey gwad...but I had to go because it requires my thumbprint.

Like Voltron, I got there a few minutes past 3 pm, I met a small crowd outside which didn't take long to be attended to.

Finally, I got in after 45minutes, another episode of wait again inside. When it got to my turn, I sat down with so much confidence because I had called a staff who gave me some tips on what to come along with but the lady I sat in front of just made all my confidence melt like ice under sun.

"Madam, you need to bring...." ohhh she reeled out a long 'Loto' list...haba shogun laye ni ( is life a battleground)?

I felt like exploding, you know that type that will get the attention of the bank manager but because I understand that she was doing her job, I calmly asked her to repeat the list because I needed to get the error rectified fast.

Fast forward to the next morning, I had every single document she mentioned, I was well kitted to deal with the situation.

, Like James 007, I drove to the Bank but met the whole of Port Harcourt standing majestically in front of the Bank just a few minutes to 8 am....fada lawd where do I begin?

I humbly asked for a number, 182... Kamari( may we not see evil).

Hunger was typing my dismissal letter because I have my breakfast packed in the car; I came prepared.

My heart did a happy dance when I saw the security man who let me in the day before. I explained myself like a wet dog but he just coldly poured more water, I went back with my tail in between my legs.

After 5 hours, the crowd was not decreasing and the system seems slow, my tummy was rumbling, my legs and back hurt but I was determined.

I managed to keep my smile even when people were getting pissed and giving the security the taste of the bile laced tongues.

He came to me and said, Madam, I love the fact that you have been smiling despite the stress, let me help you in.....my heart did a shakitibobo dance, outward my smile increase as I gave the best of behavior immediately.

I was inside the Bank in less than 10 minutes, joined the long line again, got to my turn and I sat before the same woman again with the best of my smiles signifying " today, we die here"She remembered me and smiled too. Back to business...." mmmm, madam, we would need Nepa bill because presently you don't live in Akure again ...." my mood changed instantly and I am sure she noticed.

I bluntly told her "I am going back to Akure today....warridis.

Finally, she was able to help me fix the error which dragged for another few minutes....after the war, I had to confirm several times if it was over.

I jumped out of the banking hall feeling very light but then I got a letter of remembrance from my tummy...I had to rush my food before driving off.
