Film, family, and real progress

Hi,

I want to share a quick look at how different people are using Ubuntu Basketball right now.

Two current pros.

One JuCo player.

Two parents who care deeply about their kids.

All of them are teaching me as much as I am helping them.

Jessica & Miles: 3 weeks inside Zero Seconds Film Lab

–––

Jessica is a current professional guard.

Three weeks ago she started using Zero Seconds Film Lab.

In our first call she said:

“I know I can score. I just feel late on reads in big moments.”

We built one simple routine:

  • Every week she tags clips where she caught the ball with an advantage
  • She marks: shot, drive, extra pass, or hesitation
  • We count how often she made a “Zero Seconds” decision in under one second

By week three, her notes changed.

Instead of “I should have shot,” she wrote:

“I saw the low man early and skipped to the corner,”

or

“I rejected here because the on-ball defender jumped high.”

Same player.

Same playbook.

Cleaner decisions, because she trained what she sees, not only how she feels.

Miles is a pro wing.

He came into the Film Lab with one goal: improve his pick-and-roll reads without adding three more hours to his week.

We used the same structure:

  • He tagged only his pick-and-roll possessions
  • We tracked how often he created an advantage and how often the team actually got a good shot from it
  • Practice then focused on those exact situations with simple constraints

He messaged after the second game:

“I am not forcing the first gap anymore. I am calmer because I know what I am looking for.”

This is what Zero Seconds Film Lab is built for:

Short, clear routines that you can repeat all season, no matter your level.

DJ: a JuCo player who turned Zylvie into his private classroom

–––

DJ is playing JuCo in the US.

He grabbed a big stack of video from our Zylvie store using the UBUNTU coupon last time and got 80% off.

He did something very simple and very smart:

  • Picked one pack at a time instead of trying to watch everything
  • Watched each clip three times:
  1. Just to see the action
  2. To pause before the decision and predict what should happen
  3. To compare his prediction with the actual decision and result

Then he took one or two ideas into his next practice.

He is not trying to copy every move.

He is using the footage to train his eyes and his timing.

If you want access to the same kind of material, the Zylvie store is here:

https://zylvie.com/ubuntubasketball

You will find:

  • Books I wrote on player development and decision making
  • Pro game footage packs
  • Other digital resources that serious players and coaches can use right away

Malcolm & Josephine: parents learning with their kids

–––

Malcolm and Josephine are not players.

They are parents.

Their kids, Veronica and Chris, both love basketball and want to grow.

Like many parents, Malcolm and Josephine were asking:

“How do we support them without pushing too hard?”

“What should we focus on at home?”

They signed up to our free newsletter to get regular insight on:

  • Self-development habits for young players
  • How to talk about games in a healthy way
  • How to think long term about development, not only about this weekend’s box score

If you are a parent, or you know one who needs this kind of support, you can join the same list here:

One thing I am proud of with Ubuntu Basketball is this:

We do not only work with players.

We try to help families.

A lot of organizations stand on the court and stop there.

We want to stand next to the people who raise, support, and believe in those players as well.

Where everything lives: Forento, ProLab, and our main hub

–––

If you want more structured learning, you can find our e-learning portal here:

https://ubuntubball.forento.site/

That is where we host Chalkboard style courses on:

  • Constraint Led Approach
  • Differential Learning
  • Practical drills, film routines, and mental skills

If you are near Amsterdam or passing through, ProLab is where we train on court at SportCentrum VU – Uilenstede.

Small groups.

Game-like reps.

Sessions recorded and shared so you and your coach can see progress clearly.

You can access everything connected to Ubuntu Basketball from one place:

https://prolabub.brizy.site/

Thank you for reading, learning, and working on the game with us.

Whether you are a pro like Jessica or Miles, a college player like DJ, or a parent like Malcolm and Josephine, I am grateful you trust Ubuntu Basketball to be part of your journey.
