Weekend games, 5-point quarters, and what’s coming next with Ubuntu Basketball
Jan 17, 2026 10:49 am
Hi,
As many players head into games this weekend, Ubuntu Basketball wants to start with one simple message:
Good luck, and keep the game plan simple.
A clear scoring target helps focus attention without adding pressure. One practical frame for guards and wings is:
- Aim for 5 points per quarter
- Each half: one clean mid-range jumper you trust
- Over 40 minutes: find one and-1 opportunity by attacking strong
If you stay around that 5-point rhythm, you are already in the 18–22 point range. The key is not forcing numbers, but building good decisions and shot selection that make this kind of line realistic.
Below are two short stories from current pros working with Ubuntu Basketball, followed by three concrete opportunities coming up in February, April, and with the new Advantage Chains Playbook.
–––
Jess: from “plateau” to clearer reads in 3 weeks
–––
Jess is a 27-year-old wing playing in a strong European league.
She joined Zero Seconds Film Lab three weeks ago because her numbers felt stuck. Her efficiency looked fine on paper, but she felt late on reads whenever the game sped up.
With Coach Ermay, she built a short weekly routine:
- Tag only her pick-and-roll and early offense possessions
- Use a simple 0–3 advantage chain tag on each clip
- Track how often she kept the advantage versus killed it
No extra hours of film. Just focused work.
Over the last three games:
- Fewer forced floaters in traffic
- More purposeful paint touches and kick-outs
- Her coach has started running more actions through her in key moments
The change did not come from new plays. It came from tightening decisions inside the advantages she already had.

Miles: aligning film with his next contract
–––
Miles is a guard moving between contracts in different countries.
He used the Zylvie store to buy several pro game packs and a decision-making guide, then set up a ProLab-style remote planning block. Together with Ubuntu Basketball, he mapped three things:
- His current role and usage
- The role he wants for his next contract
- The specific actions and reads that need to appear more often on film
From there, they built a 4-week plan tied directly to his game footage: targeted constraints for workouts, clear “no-go” shots, and two film themes to track each week.
His reflection after the first cycle was simple:
“For the first time, my training and my game film are speaking the same language.”

Pre-launch: Advantage Chains (ACI Playbook) – 5 Euro offer
–––
Most teams still grade possessions by makes and misses.
Advantage Chains looks at the possession before the shot.
The Advantage Chain Index (ACI) is a simple 0–3 call that gives coaches and players one shared language for what is happening right now:
- Advantage: spacing, shot probability, and a clear decision edge appear
- Tilt: the defense recovers, and the window begins to shrink
- Cash-Out: the chain ends in a true high-value attempt
Inside the ACI Playbook, Coach Ermay Duran explains how to:
- Tag film fast without getting lost in data
- Track chain length and time-to-action across games
- Turn those tags into one decision rule, one small-sided constraint, and one measurement plan for the next match
This is a pre-launch offer before the book is published by a US house next year.
Pre-launch price: 5 Euros

To everyone playing this weekend:
Stay healthy, compete hard, and if you need a simple focus, think in quarters.
Five solid points per quarter, one trusted mid-range look, and one strong and-1 across the game.
The box score will take care of itself if the decisions and standards are clear.
