Results from Jason Anderson's latest PET scan

Hello all,

Jason and I were in Houston at MD Anderson for a couple of days last week. He had a PET scan and met with his oncologist there for treatment advice.

In the Very Good News column is this: all the spots of cancer we've been watching are stable and appear inactive.

In the Not-So-Good News column is this: there was one new spot on the scan—it appears to be a small cancerous/metastatic lesion within his upper back.

Here's our plan of action:

  • Keep up with the current treatment plan (5FU chemo + nivolumab immunotherapy every 2 weeks), since these meds are working on almost all of the cancerous areas & since he's tolerating them so well.
  • Do radiation on that single spot to hopefully wipe it out.
  • Re-evaluate after the next PET scan this summer.
  • Jason still plans to get radiation for his newly diagnosed prostate cancer as well, though this new spot of cancer is top priority right now.

He's still feeling really good and working full-time. We've enjoyed several trips in the last few months. Over spring break, we took the kids to New Orleans and had a great time. Here's a pic from that trip showing just how strong Jason is. ;)

We appreciate your prayers and well wishes as Jason continues his treatment!
