Why I Bought Ugly New Gloves
Have you ever used a mandolin … the kitchen type, not the instrument type? In case you haven’t, it’s a very sharp tool that allows you to slice veggies nice and thin. You have to be very, very careful with it and use it properly.
Or you can be like me and use it improperly and less-than-carefully, and end up slicing your finger.
Oops.
Last Thursday night, I ended up in the ER, because after my run-in with my mandolin, the bleeding wouldn’t stop. Turned out it couldn’t be stitched up; they just had to wrap it really well. It’s healing nicely, and I was finally able to leave it unbandaged today.
But after cutting myself, I followed some good advice and got these gloves:
They’re ugly, but I’ve heard they work! Next time I need to slice things thin (and don’t want to take a chunk out of my finger), I’m wearing these bad boys.
(Warning: terrible segue coming up...)
I think reading keeps my brain as sharp as my mandolin, so let's move on to this week's book recommendations!
