Bluebonnets at MD Anderson

Many of you know that my husband is in treatment for stomach cancer, which was diagnosed ten months ago. While he does all his treatment locally (Austin, TX area), we do go to MD Anderson in Houston every so often for tests and a specialist consultation. I'm writing this from our Houston hotel—we'll head back home tomorrow.

Cancer is stressful ... for the patient and their caregiver! Today, while my husband was getting a scan, I had an hour and a half or two to kill. So instead of staying holed up in the waiting room, I grabbed some breakfast, then spent time in some nearby parks. The pics below are from a park right that's part of the MD Anderson property.

It's spring, and bluebonnets (the Texas state flower) are in bloom. There were a lot of them at the park!

There was also this gorgeous old oak tree.

Being outside .... getting exercise, looking at the beauty, and then just sitting in the breeze ... was healing for me! It's wonderful to find moments of peace and joy in the midst of a difficult circumstance.
