{{contact.first_name}}, we survived Snowpocalypse 2021! Plus book recommendations

We made it through the snowpocalypse in Texas! Our lives are almost back to normal. We no longer have to boil water, and school started again today. My son’s school, however, is virtual only for the rest of the week since 21 classrooms had water damage due to a burst pipe!
Here’s a picture from my first-ever natural disaster:
Beautiful, right? And for a lot of you, that looks normal! But in an area where we rarely get snow at all, and when we do, it’s usually minimal and melts within a day, we weren’t even sort of prepared for this. We don’t have snow plows or even snow shovels, and our state had nowhere near enough energy to heat so many homes during a record 140+ straight hours of below-freezing weather. (Here’s one way to tell you how dramatic things have been: last Tuesday, the temperature got down to 7F/-14C. This Tuesday, we got up to 77F/25C!)
It feels like spring here again. This little guy that I saw on my morning walk yesterday is as happy about that as I am.
Whether you’re stuck in the snow or enjoying the sun, I hope you’re taking time to read. Here are some recommendations for you!
