Hi friends,

Jason started whole-brain radiation off with a bang yesterday, getting two treatments in one day. It was a very rough day on the pain front, but last night, something seems to have shifted. He slept a lot, and today has been his best day yet in terms of pain and energy levels.

He's currently headed to radiation with my dad. Having my parents here has been so helpful.

We had a virtual appointment with Jason's palliative-care doctor this afternoon. For those who aren't familiar with palliative care, they focus on helping patients have the best quality of life they can when they're dealing with serious medical issues. (Some people think palliative care is similar to hospice, but it's not—they're totally different fields.) He gave us guidance on keeping on top of Jason's pain and also keeping his energy up on Monday (vow-renewal day). It was a great, hope-filled appointment!
