Memoir Update #1!

Hi ,

Thank you so very much for supporting me as I work on my memoir. It means a lot that you want to be kept in the loop!

I just hit 10,000 words on my rough draft today, which is so exciting! I'm hoping this draft will be about 70,000 to 80,000 words long, and I'm on track to finish it in August. If it takes longer, that's okay too. I'm learning to trust the process and not push myself too hard. I have a lot of other stuff going on in my life, and writing about such a vulnerable subject requires I give myself plenty of compassion along the way!

When people ask what my memoir is about, this is currently my answer (subject to change): "It's about learning to hope and grieve on my journey to widowhood." I'm already finding the writing process to be so healing, and I earnestly hope it'll help others who are hoping, grieving, and healing.

I usually type my drafts, but I'm in a writing course/coaching group that highly suggests authors handwrite instead. I'm working through some ergonomic issues (I'm young to be a widow, but I feel my age at times like this!), but overall, I'm really loving writing by hand. The tactile connection to the words feels right as I put my heart on these pages.

I'll continue to keep you updated here and there! Thank you again for your support.

With love,

Beth
