{{contact.first_name}}, what I'm writing these days (plus book recs)

Hi ,
An Overdue Writing Update
I'm an author of fantasy novels, and I want to write more romance too ... but I'm currently not writing either one.
Many of you know my husband was diagnosed with metastatic stomach cancer 14 months ago. I'm actually sitting with him in the oncology office right now as he gets infusions of all sorts of medications.
He's doing well, considering. I'm doing well, considering. But cancer changes things! I don't have the same creative energy I did before we entered this season of our lives. I'm still doing professional audiobook narration, and I really don't have the bandwidth to do that and create new worlds/new stories.
But I'm still writing.
A week after Jason's diagnosis, I started a journal. I've kept up with it, and I just recently hit 40,000 words!
One day, bits and pieces of this journal may find their way into a nonfiction book about cancer and caregiving.
Will I return to fiction? I certainly hope to! In fact, I woke up early one morning last week and couldn't go back to sleep since fiction ideas were streaming through my mind. Last night before bed, another idea came to my mind. I'm looking forward to creating characters and worlds again!
But for now, I'm writing about real life. And that's what my soul needs.
Still, I love reading fiction, like all of you! Check out this week's book recs!
