Hey ,

Want to get into some practical discussions around the reality of incorporating interoception into therapy? Then you're going to love this week in The Wired Collective!!

This weeks spotlight we get into:

  • More talk about Trauma and Interoception
  • Adapting Mindfulness to be trauma sensitive
  • Making Space for Relationships in Therapy
  • Interoception in Infants and Early Childhood
  • Sensory Integration and Child-Led Therapy Approaches

When Kelly was talking about interoception in infants and early childhood it really caught my imagination! There's not a lot on this topic, but I managed to find some great research that digs into the development of interoception and it's relationship to developing action understanding, proprioception, conceptualizing the 'other', imitation and sensory integration.

And then I found a fascinating example on linking interoception and early feeding - looking at how multisensory interactions during feeding with touch, visual cues, and rhythmic communication can enhance infants' body awareness and interoceptive skills. This connected the dots for me around some AMAZING progress I'm seeing in hand function with a 2 year old I'm treating with hemiplegia.

Would you like to hear more about it?

I hope so because I'm going to be putting together some videos to share in our next Wired Weekly round starting this tomorrow!

Wired Weeklies are the place to come hang out if you want real time conversation, connection and inspiration! But don't forget to take advantage of our huge, around the world network but tapping into asynchronous conversations in the Wired Collective dashboard too!

I love that members are starting to use the dashboard for this. It really helps bring the theory to life and makes it so much more relevant to us as clinicians. Here's a few snippets from recent spotlights to inspire you to join in the conversation.

And FYI - I've just updated the dashboard to make it easier to navigate, with a new video on getting orientated HERE. Thanks to Sue Liebros and Ellen Dubber for motivating me to do this!

Please keep the feedback coming so I can make sure the tech works for you!

On another note, the Scite.ai access list has been updated. Please let me know if you need help with getting started. If you missed last week's email and have no idea what scite.ai is, check the bottom of this email for more details.

I can't wait to show off my little guys progress at our next Wired Weekly and see if you agree with me about the role of interoception in improving hand awareness and function in this toddler with hemiplegia...

Warm regards,

Mindy

Scite.ai

Scite is an Al driven platform that provides citations from published articles. For more detailed info click here.

If you are not sure you have access to scite, or you want access to scite fill in this form ASAP so I can make sure you are signed in. If you're having trouble signing in by this time next week, please email me again (and apologies if I missed responding - feel free to hound me).

If you need a refresher on Scite.ai, I made a video recently for Susan Hastings as she was asking about how to look for research specifically comparing kids with CP to TD kids. In this video I to through my workflow on how I would do that. Check it out here even if it's just to see some fascinating research on this topic.
